Most oral rinses are built to a price and a flavor. Implant ProCare was built backward from a question: if someone is going to run a solution through a water flosser every single day, for years, what should be in it — and what shouldn't?
What's in it, and why
Cetylpyridinium chloride (the active)
CPC is the working ingredient. It's an established antiplaque and antigingivitis active that has been used in mouth rinses for decades — a well-characterized ingredient, not a novel one, and that was deliberate.
Its use here: helps control plaque that leads to gingivitis.
Zinc citrate
Zinc salts have a long history in oral care, particularly for the volatile sulfur compounds behind most oral malodor. Zinc and CPC are a long-standing pairing in oral care formulation, and they are used together here for that reason.
Xylitol
A five-carbon sugar alcohol that oral bacteria cannot ferment into acid. It carries the sweetening load, so no fermentable sugar is present in the formula — and it makes the product pleasant enough to actually use daily, which matters more than it sounds. A daily product only works if people use it.
Hypromellose (HPMC)
A film-forming polymer. Anything you rinse with gets cleared by saliva fairly quickly; HPMC is a well-established ingredient used to help a formula stay put a little longer, and it was chosen here for that reason.
Glycerin and propylene glycol
Humectants and solubilizers. They keep the formula stable and prevent the drying sensation associated with alcohol-based rinses.
Purified water
The balance of the formula.
What's deliberately not in it
- Alcohol. Alcohol-based rinses sting and leave the mouth feeling dry. That's a compliance problem: people quietly stop using products that are unpleasant. There is no therapeutic reason to include it here.
- Artificial dyes. No functional purpose in a product you spit out.
- Sodium lauryl sulfate. A foaming surfactant. Foam is a cosmetic expectation rather than a functional one, and SLS is a known irritant for a meaningful minority of people. A low-foaming formula was the specification for a product meant to go through an irrigator.
- Parabens.
- Chlorhexidine. CHX is a prescription drug with its own indications, its own duration limits, and well-documented staining and taste-alteration effects with extended use. It is not appropriate for indefinite daily consumer use, which is exactly what a daily implant routine is.
pH 6.8–7.0
The formula is buffered to a neutral pH — essentially the pH of healthy saliva. Many oral products sit well below neutral, either because the active requires it or because acidity is cheap preservation. For a product intended for daily use over years, neutral was the specification, not the compromise.
Made for irrigation, not adapted to it
Every conventional mouthwash on the shelf is a ready-to-use rinse that people sometimes pour into a water flosser. Implant ProCare is a 2× concentrate specified for the reservoir: it dilutes 1:1 to its intended use concentration, which means the bottle you buy is 16 oz that becomes 32 oz of solution, and it isn't carrying a 16-oz shipping weight of water it didn't need.
How it's made
Implant ProCare is manufactured in the United States by a contract manufacturer operating under FDA current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for over-the-counter drug products (21 CFR Parts 210 and 211). Each ingredient is sourced in the United States. All packaging materials are sourced and fabricated in the United States. Each batch is produced to a fixed specification and released against it.
